IMMIGRATION

Immigrants made this great nation!  From Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America, all that have come in the past and continue to arrive come here with one purpose: to provide a better future for themselves and their families that they love.

Those of us who were lucky enough to have been born in the United States have had the best opportunity to prosper.  Many of us have gone on to universities and colleges and received a higher formal education.  With this knowledge, we've become doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, businessmen, et cetera.  The sacrifices of love taken by our ancestors have given future generations the chance to succeed!

By this same reasoning, there are many who are fleeing persecution from their countries.  They are leaving their homes, literally with only the clothes on their backs, out of fear, because they are hungry, because they are dying.  Just as our parents and grandparents left to come to the United States for better lives for their children and grandchildren, these new immigrants left their mother countries for better opportunities and a chance at the American Dream.

We are talking about human lives; men, women, and children who want to have the chance to sleep in a bed without fear of reprisals, wear clean, warm clothes, feel safe in their communities, get a better education, and give back to their adopted country as thanks for having taken them in.  They are not here for a handout.   They are here to work hard to earn what they receive.  They want the most basic of what we have and were guaranteed by our forefathers: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  We are the greatest nation in the world and have plenty to give.  Let us not be selfish, but share with our brethren all with which God has blessed us For A United Dallas County.
